Family Photos https://jessicabishop.zenfolio.com/blog/2019/3/family-photos Our family is growing faster and faster!  There were three cousins added to the family in 2018.  They are growing way too fast;  somedays I fear what they will be like in another year or two when they are all running around together.  But we are all enjoying our time right now, watching them grow and learn.  I love being able to capture their milestones.

Maverick is 10 months here!  Luck for him, a cake smash is in his near future!!

The Reason I Bought a Camera https://jessicabishop.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/9/the-reason-i-bought-a-camera Barrett!  He is the reason I bought a camera to begin with.

When Barrett was born, I knew that I wanted to have constant pictures taken of him.  I wanted professional photos when he was born and for all the first year's milestones (3, 6, 9, 12 month photos) and I wanted to do cake smash.... What I didn't want, was to pay an arm and a leg for all of them.  I did the math and figured I could buy the camera and take them myself for far less.  So, after paying for his newborn photos, I went out and bought my own camera.

I was particially right, I could buy the camera for less than I would have paid a photographer.... What I didn't realize was how much time I would spend learning the use it and then all the 'extras' that I quickly learned I just had to have.  I spent a lot of time during maternity leave practicing taking pictures of my baby.  I have WAY more pictures of him during the first 5 months of his life, than any mother truely needs.

18 months later, Barrett knows exactly what that camera is and what to do when he sees it.  Depending on his mood, he will stand or sit perfectly while mom gets the picture she wants.  He'll even ask to look at the screen after I take the picture, point to himself and say "Barrett" ~ I can't type how cute he is when he says it.  OR, he will look right at me a give me a very simple (but firm) NO.

Time goes by so fast, and he changes daily.  I'm so glad that I have so many pictures help me remember this last year and a half.

Unforeseen Perks! https://jessicabishop.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/9/unforeseen-perks Not that I don't enjoy working with any and everyone, but I have particularly loved that I have gotten to do pictures for family.  There is something very special and unique to be asked by family to do photos.  I get to experience and cature moments in a whole new way.  It started with my little sisters wedding last spring, I did a couple of photos while we were all getting ready, since her wedding photographer wasn't scheduled to be there until after we would all be dressed.  It then continued this summer, I did both my nephew's 3 and 6 month photos; these are special milestones in a baby's first year, and it means a lot to me to get to spend a little extra time with them.

A surprising benefit that I didnt see coming!  Those extra moments are what makes me want to do more!

Only the Begining https://jessicabishop.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/9/only-the-begining It was only 2 months ago that I decided that I would try out making a small hobby into something more.  I posted a quick ad on Facebook to see if I could even generate any interest.  My goal - 5 photo shoots between July and August and to answer some internal questions - Do I even liked doing photography, or do I just like the idea of it?  Do I have the time to do this?  Will people be interested in using me?  So, I gave myself a two month trial.  And, if at the end of August I found that this was not for me, then I will can walk away knowing I gave it a shot.  Or, if I like it, then I can and will continue on.

Well, August has passed and it turns out, I've had a lot of fun over the last two months!! I made my goal of 5+ photo shoots and have determind that I do like photography and I do have the time to do it!  I almost can't believe the amount of support I've recieved from family and friends and helping me get started.  I've really enjoyed getting to know new families, spending time with friends, and getting to experience and capture special moments with friends and family.

I want to give everyone that I've work with a huge 'Thank You'.  You've made the last couple months wonderful for me and I cannot wait to see what comes next!
